Stormwater management engineering
for Ontario projects.
Stormwater management that fits the approval framework.
Stormwater Management
UrbanWater helps development and infrastructure teams control runoff quantity, quality and erosion in line with the requirements of the municipality, Conservation Authority and province.
We work from strategy through design, coordinating grading, servicing and stormwater controls so the solution works on site and in review.
Scope of work
- Stormwater management strategy and design
- Quantity and quality control
- SWM pond and outlet assessment
- Major/minor drainage design
- LID / BMP integration
- Technical reporting and approval support

Common questions
What is a stormwater management report?
It is the engineering document showing how a development will control runoff to meet the applicable criteria for peak flow, water quality and erosion. It is usually submitted with planning or site approvals.
Who reviews stormwater designs in Ontario?
Typically the municipality and the local Conservation Authority. Depending on the site and the works, the province or the Ministry of Transportation may also be involved.
When should an engineer get involved?
Early. Pond locations, grading and drainage routes affect how much land a project needs, so addressing stormwater at the concept stage avoids costly redesign.
